MORPHOMETRIC VARIATION OF PLACENTA AND UMBILICAL CORD INSERTION

Objective:
 To relate and appraise the morphological variationsof placenta umbilical cord in normal pregnancy.
 Materials Methods:
 The study included 100 placentas which were collected from GovernmentMaternity Hospital Hashtnagri studied Anatomy department of Khyber Medical CollegePeshawar over one month duration. variations placenta, like shape, weightand attachment noted photographed.
 Results:
 In our study, we observed round 91 cases (91%), oval 5 cases(5%), irregular 3 (3%), bilobed 1 case (1%), respectively. Normal insertion was found 75% abnormal 25% mean placental weight 509.5g (normal ranges between 400 to 650gs).
 Conclusion:
 present majority presented with shape,few placentae shape or an accessory lobe. existing alsoincluded cords eccentric casesfollowed by central marginal insertion.
